Katherine
Diane Zotzman (Ms. Diane):
History:
I was born and raised in British Columbia. I attended both the University of British Columbia (Zoology) and the University of the Okanagan in Kelowna, B.C. I was an employee of the Canadian Wildlife Service and the Summerland B.C. Research Station until I met and married Tim Zotzman (Mr. Tim) in 1982. While in the process of converting my credits to a Teaching Degree, I began to run a daycare in Kelowna and the rest, as they say, is history.
In October of 1999, I moved to Williams Lake with my husband to take over the pastorate of the Voice of Pentecost Church. I resumed daycare at that time and have continued to enjoy the years to follow.
Music:
I enjoy singing and playing the piano, guitar and flute. We have a piano in the daycare at the present time and the children enjoy playing it. I like playing music during daycare hours and the children and I enjoy rollicking music times. I am often involved in activities that involve doing sign language to music and I share this with the children.
Extra-Curricular Activities:
I am the Coordinator for two children’s clubs: The Three Seas Children’s Club and TNT Youth here in Williams Lake. I am also the Bible Quizzing Coordinator for British Columbia. As a Pastor’s wife I am very involved with children in our own church and in the community. My husband and I do counseling.
Family:
I have two married children, Melissa McCoy and Michael Zotzman and two delightful grandchildren, Brooklyn and Braxton. “Mr. Tim” and I have been married for 31 years in August 2013.
Who I Am:
I love daycare and I love working with children. I see them as individual persons and I look for opportunities to help them develop their specific talents and potential. I am a strong believer in having fun, being kids, and slipping in little tidbits of education in the course of the day. I strive to run my daycare efficiently and well from a business perspective but I am best pleased if the children see coming to daycare as an extension of their family life. As most of my children are preschoolers and toddlers, I feel that nurturing is a very important aspect of their care. Christianity is part of who I am but I operate my daycare on the premise that the children are coming for daycare, not religious studies. I strive for balance and respect. Organization is a keynote of my personality and I have a good sense of humor. The children and I often have good laughs and I see myself as firm and consistent but also kind. I believe this gives the children a sense of security and belonging.
